Living the dream…

Have you ever seriously considered changing careers, or something else major in your life?  Have you ever wondered what that would be like?

Most don’t have anywhere near the courage to bite the bullet, take a chance, and do what they love instead.

Here’s a GREAT post about what happens when you do find the courage inside to live the life you can only imagine now.

This potter tells it like it is!  I took the risk and changed careers eight years ago, and agree with EVERYTHING said here!  I could find no way to go back to my previous career as an academic librarian, so I chose to go forward into the unknown.

The only thing I know for sure?  I’m so glad I gave myself permission to try out writing.

When I did, I learned how many other, unpredictable things can change when you choose a new path for your life.  I learned,  most importantly, how much YOU change, because you suddenly see so many more possibilities for yourself.  I will never regret my decision!

Whenever I consider taking on a new life challenge, like I am right now, I find it so helpful to simply remind myself:

You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take!

About those shots you miss: there is a saying in the auto sales biz that basically states “If you don’t get any loan/finance applications turned down then you are not submitting enough”. For mortgage loans it is “If a lender never has any foreclosures they are not approving enough loans”. And so on.

I couldn’t agree more…Four years ago I was unhappy in my marriage and unhappy in my job. Golden handcuffs had kept me from breaking free. Until one fateful month..I walked away from it all. You can read about it here: http://paminprogress.tumblr.com/post/17824001056/living-without-a-net.
