Because I care…

by midlifecrisisqueen on March 1, 2013

I worry about my elderly parents a lot.  I am so glad they can still watch over each other, and they have wonderful friends and neighbors, but they live in a rural area.  My sister finally convinced them to carry cell phones recently, but that doesn’t make me feel that much better about their decision to live on their own, so far away from everything.

That’s why I’m getting them a new portable kind of telephone system that has one-touch big button dialing everywhere in their home.

Vtech Communications, the world’s largest manufacturer of cordless telephones and electronic learning products, recently developed  the Careline™ Home Safety Telephone System to help me stay in touch with my parents while also keeping them safe.  Better yet, this reasonably priced system requires no monthly monitoring fees, installation costs or contracts.

The system has three main components:  a touch-tone telephone base with corded handset, a cordless handset with charging base, and a portable safety pendant with its own charging base.  All three devices have speakerphones.

The main telephone base unit can be plugged directly into any phone jack and then programmed with four separate phone numbers with photo dial convenience so you never forget which person you are calling.  This feature also provides one-touch dialing, and if you miss a call, the built-in answering machine takes care of that for you.  No fear of losing your phone either.  The corded handset stays in one place.

The cordless handset is great for hands-free conversations, and also includes a visual ringing indicator and voice announce caller ID, so you won’t miss a single call.  Need a little help hearing?  An audio assist feature lets you boost up the volume temporarily during hard to hear calls.

The safety pendant is light enough to wear around your neck or clip to your waistband.  It accepts voice commands or one button dialing to reach the emergency contact of your choice, and you can also use it to make and receive calls.  The pendant can be programmed to remind you of the time, appointments or medications, even remotely.  Convenience and one button dialing anywhere you go.

All of these safety features help to put my mind at ease.  My parents deserve these extra safety measures in their home, and as of now there’s nothing else like it.  Now I just have to show my parents how it works, and then convince them of its importance.

This is a great phone system! I happen to have one of these. Aside from all the great features I also like the fact that there are no monthly service fees, so important for seniors.

My father in law is enjoying the same system, we’re amazed at the range of the safety pendant, he has a HUGE yard & can go everywhere outside on his scooter without missing a call.

Lovely review!

I like the phone personally. The ability to move around with the pendant is great. This review will encourage many to try this product out.

I was amazed how well thought out this product was made. They seemed to have thought of everything that would be needed for someone wanting to remain independent.

We got it to give to my parents, but now we want one for ourselves!

I love the whole concept and design! We’ve always been giant fans of VTech products, especially toys, and this phone system is no different. They continue to create great stuff and we’ll continue to use them!!
