Who knew when I sat down to write my first blog post back in late October 2007, that I would still be at it five years later?
SO, over a quarter million pageviews later, and after the publication of my first book, Midlife Magic, at the end of 2008, and my second in 2011, here we are!
What have been my most popular posts over the years? Number one was a silly thing I wrote about a midlife crisis tattoo research project back in 2009. Granted, the photo probably helped! Oh, BTW, that’s NOT ME!
To celebrate my five year anniversary as a blogger and my seven year anniversary of “coming out” as a writer, I’ve been busy producing a new book on the way the phenomena of midlife has changed all of our lives, and the many previously unavailable opportunities it offers us today.
As some of you may know, I have read most of the sociological and psychological research on baby boomers and midlife in the past six years. My conclusion? I feel I have developed a revolutionary new way of looking at and appreciating the many synchronicities which had to occur for us to be living in such an unprecedented era of personal growth and change.
Yes, there are major psychological challenges which came with being born when we were, and I list and discuss those as well in detail, but do you ever sit and think about what an amazing time it is in human history?
What are some of the psychological opportunities uniquely available to us as boomers? First of all, we now live long enough to actually experience a time in life called midlife. How lucky are we to get a second chance to grow up in the middle of life?
Think of the wealth of resources available to us to help us become our best self as we age. How many different synchronicities had to occur for us to be living in this time of phenomenal personal growth and change?
This is truly the best time in human history to be alive, with the tools and ability to reach our full potential as sentient beings. Do not miss out!
