I just learned about the new book Queen of your own life, a concept very similar to the ideas on this blog and my book. Of course I’ve never been a TV star, so I couldn’t get on the morning talk shows to tell about my own experiences, but it’s all the same concept.
I love the idea of putting together crowning parties to become the queen of your own life. When my crises hit, I didn’t have a big group of friends to make it all better with a crowning party. I’ve worked hard to create that for myself over the past nine years since I first got divorced.
That’s why I decided to officially crown myself the Midlife Crisis Queen in 2008 and start this blog, because I felt like I had finally beaten the odds and ended up on top in spite of difficult experiences like divorce and career loss in my 40s.
Rituals are important. Crowning is symbolic and an important ritual to announce to yourself and the world your own OK-ness with how it all turned out. Think of all you have achieved throughout your life!
Go have a crowning party and then tell me how you did it! Be sure and send pictures!

I love that idea – simple little rituals (hopefully including ceremonial champagne) can help we girls cope with so much – even if the only bubbles are in your bathwater! Hope you treated yourself to something sparkly to wear – such as a ‘free again ‘ diamond rint too.
