Finding Speaking Success: Mentoring Tips for the Masters

by midlifecrisisqueen on February 9, 2010

I am so pleased to announce the publication of my third book!

Brian Schwartz and I have spent the past six months interviewing 25 of the top speakers in America, and then editing those interviews into a concise summary of their careers as powerful, well-known speakers.

We have learned up close and personally from masters like Patricia Fripp, Mark Sanborn, Gina Schreck and Joe Sabah, all past presidents of the National Speakers Association.

Would you like to know what caused them to originally launch their speaking careers?  What have they learned about sustaining their careers in tough economic times?  What motivates them to keep getting up there in front of people year after year?

If you think you might like to take a shot at selling more books, videos and other products through speaking gigs, first learn from the best!  Here they share how they got started, and the steep learning curve they mastered.

How often do top speakers present and what are their typical fee?  How do they keep their business growing?  Do they use a publicist?  What creative ways have they found to utilize the internet and social media to more effectively sell themselves and their products? Where do they find their best content and inspiration as top speakers?

Whether you want to earn a six figure income as a speaking professional, or simply learn what the masters already know, Finding Speaking Success will reveal many of the answers you seek.

Some of their answers may surprise you.  Why do some speakers recommend lessons in acting, comedy, and improv?  What are they doing now, that they wish they had started sooner?  Want to hear about their most humbling or embarrassing moments while speaking?  How is the profession changing with the proliferation of webinars and video conferencing?

Time to turn to the masters for all of the answers!

What a joy to have been part of this project, Laura Lee! Cutting down the learning curve for others who want to share their passion and message as a speaker is so vital to enjoying our profession more. Thank you again for inviting me to be a part of this great opportunity.

Kim!

Dear Kim:
The pleasure was all mine! What a great way to start a career in speaking, by reading a book full of interviews with the best of the best!

Thanks for your participation in this important project!

Success as a professional speaker has to be individually defined. I certainly do NOT think that joining associations is the key to success. Instead, study those people who you want to be like to get to where you want to go.

And that’s what I did! My mentor, Fred Gleeck, has been speaking professionally for more than 25 years. He also teaches others (like me) how to make REAL money as a speaker. Do not hold back! You can be your BEST. I trust Fred’s system, and it sure did a GREAT job for me! Cheers to your success!
