Find your right livelihood AND your passion!

by midlifecrisisqueen on February 3, 2010

I did and I cannot believe how exciting it is!  I’m just starting to blossom in my work as a life change coach and I LOVE THIS WORK!  In fact, I have trouble thinking of it as “work,” because it is so naturally ME!  I have finally found exactly what I’m good at and where I fit into this world.  Please allow me to help you do the same!

I guess there are really two ways to think about this.  The first would be poor me.  It has taken me three graduate degrees and over 30 years of searching and struggle to finally arrive where I am today and know that I belong.  But, on the other hand, I feel bad for most people who NEVER find anything close to right livelihood.  They work, they struggle and then they die, never having the chance to find out what their natural talents are, and then offer them to the world.

What I’ve learned through my own lifelong struggle is how important it is to never give up!  It is so worth it to finally find where your natural abilities and skills mesh with the needs of the world.  And don’t worry, when you find just the right fit, YOU WILL KNOW IT. It’s a lot like hitting your own personal jackpot or winning the lottery!

I was raised to believe that most people love their work, because my Dad always has.  But I have had to struggle most of my life to find just the right match for me.  Librarianship was not bad, because it used my natural interest in investigative work, plus my teaching skills.  But it did not utilize my natural talent for connecting with people on a personal level, and cheering them on to become their best self

Please don’t hesitate to find out what you were meant to be!  Become the person you are inside!  It might take a few years to narrow it down, it may take some personal struggle, but be sure and don’t miss out on what you came here to do!

“So many of our dreams at first seem impossible, then they seem improbable, and then, when we summon the will, they soon become inevitable.”                    -Christopher Reeve

I am thrilled to find this blog and a place to connect with other mid-lifers. It takes time to discover who you are and what you are meant to do. I think mid-life is the perfect time to take advantage of the wisdom, experiences and opportunities that can only come at mid-life and beyond!
