Is something missing in your life?

frumpy-ladyWhat is it?  Is it meaning?  Is it fun?  Is it the energy to do all of the things you still want to do before you die?  Is it love?  Is it sex?  Is it excitement?  Is it the motivation or resources to pursue your dreams?

What can you do to get these things back?  How do others find inspiration to become more and not less as they age?

I went to see the author T. C. Boyle at a cool event put on my my local public library yesterday.

On the wall were two great sayings.  One said:

Nothing happens without personal transformation.

And the other totally cracked me up:

“It is not necessary to change.  Survival is not mandatory.”

It is rarely easy to change or even to accept the need for it. That’s why so many of us have to hit rock bottom before we will even consider changing anything.  We need to be open and ever vigilant of signs from our lives, signs that shout at us:  “Some serious change is in order here!”

Because if we refuse to listen, that voice just keeps getting louder.  I thought I was past the worst of it when I went through the trauma of a divorce.  Wrong!  I still had to lose my job before I heard the message loud and clear:  It’s time to change everything.

I now see losing my job as the best wakeup call I ever received.  It was a message I could not ignore.  It got me off my butt and into some painful, but serious thought about what’s next for me.

It made me the Midlife Crisis Queen, thus bringing me back to who I am, and what I do best in this world.  I was born to motivate others to transform themselves and their lives.  I accept this role now.
