When do we officially become "old"?

by midlifecrisisqueen on August 27, 2009

The Pew Research Center looked into this question and came up with age 68.

Not surprisingly, those who were already 65 declared old age as beginning at 74, while people younger than 30 think you are elderly when you turn 60.  My friend Ann says, “Old is always ten years past where you are today!”

I don’t know about you, but I’m looking forward to becoming an elder of our tribe!

I keep asking myself that! I don’t consider myself “old” or even mid-life(even though I am and the body feels that way)! I keep on laughing my way through and I get younger everyday-Mary Caliendo

I find this very amusing. I hate to be corny and say “old” is more a mindset, but I think it is. Every person at each different age says old is a different thing. It’s tricky to pin down that way. Also, I have to agree and say I wouldn’t mind being “old” if we’re going with ten years away. Thanks for the post.
