Without music, life would be a mistake. -Nietzche
As usual, my music is where I get some of my most thought provoking lines. I think song writers are the poets of our time.
I recently bought a CD of one of the albums that got me through some of the toughest times in my life. Do we have any Emmy Lou Harris fans out there? Quarter Moon in a Ten Cent Town is one of my all time favorites! It came out in the mid-1970s.
As I listen to it now, the song “One Paper Kid”, where she harmonizes with Willie Nelson, really struck me. Especially the lyrics: “And he’s gone to a place where it’s legal to dream…”
This is the place I try to create with this blog. A place where we can get beyond all the major discouragements of life, and find a way to dream again. There’s another song from some old musical (South Pacific, I think) that says:
“You’ve got to have a dream, if you don’t have a dream, how are you gonna have a dream come true?”
I hope you can occasionally allow yourself to dream of a better life for yourself and a better world for all of us. A place where we all love ourselves unconditionally and offer that same gift to everyone we meet. A place where we all have something to give, and gratitude rules. A place where love is the medium of exchange instead of money. A place where it is legal to dream!

Dreams define goals for each of us. Dreams are healthy and necessary to live a fulfilling life. Dreams convert into the goals we may set down the road and work toward on a daily basis.
