I Never Thought I Would Ever…

by midlifecrisisqueen on August 28, 2008

Here’s an interesting exercise to try. I couldn’t go back to sleep so I started my own “I never in a million years thought I would ever” list. This is about all the crazy things that can happen in midlife, even though they may have seemed impossible just a few years ago.

When it starts to seem like your entire life is disappearing down the toilet, remember how much things can change!

Here’s my own list, written from the perspective of eight years ago when my divorce was just getting under way and things were looking pretty grim:

I Never in a Million Years Thought I Would Ever….

  1. Get married again.
  2. Find my soulmate.
  3. Marry a biker.
  4. Believe in myself enough to become a writer.
  5. Publish a book!
  6. Get a brand new kitchen.
  7. Feel so secure, valued and loved.
  8. Take so many risks.
  9. Find a life partner with such  diverse talents and interests, and yet still find him so interesting.
  10. Find others who believe in me so much.
  11. Start a dating service.
  12. Tell my “wasband” to vaporize.
  13. Remodel a house and build a sun room.
  14. Be the victim of a serious bike accident.
  15. Know so much about chronic fatigue or Candida!
  16. Know so much about menopause!
  17. Become a blogger.
  18. Respect myself this much.
  19. Be happier than I’ve ever been.
  20. Become the Midlife Crisis Queen!

Now you try writing your own list.  It’s fun and gives a whole new perspective on how life can change in midlife!

“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” -Eleanor Roosevelt

Thanks for the fun post. I blogged about it on my reader blog called the Boomer Consumer for The Seattle Post Intelligencer, and I included my own list. Here’s the link: http://blog.seattlepi.nwsource.com/boomerconsumer/archives/148840.asp
