Al Gore, the Midlife Crisis King!

Myself I must re-make!  -Yeats

The profile of Al Gore on CBS “60 Minutes” last night was excellent.  I realized for the first time, that man is a classic case of midlife crisis!

How about being cheated out of the presidency of the U.S. after winning the popular vote at age 52, for a midlife crisis!  His wife said he struggled greatly after this disillusioning defeat, and his very survival eventually came down to finding a whole new reason to go on.  I’d say he did a bang up job of creating new meaning in his life.  Not everyone gains a Nobel Peace Prize for their efforts!

I wonder if at some time he ask himself: Can I turn this crisis into an opportunity?  Do I have the resilience, strength of character, and courage to reorganize my entire life around a completely different purpose?  So he returned to an issue he had been involved in previously, with renewed enthusiasm.

Global warming is the issue facing our generation.  If we don’t wake up, smell the ice melting, and change our ways, nothing else matters.  Gore decided to educate the world on this issue through his books (The Assault on Truth) and the documentary: “An Inconvenient Truth.”  I liked, in the 60 Minutes interview, when Leslie Stahl would challenge him by saying things like: “This is such a big issue to take on” and “Can we afford this?”, how Gore would immediately respond: “How can we afford not to?”

Yes, I know, Gore is also a millionaire, but I think he is spending his millions wisely.  He has made 35 million on his books, movies and the Noble Prize, and he is re-investing all of it back into ads to educate even more people worldwide to the coming crisis.

When asked about having any interest in running for public office again, Gore responded with: “I have fallen out of love with politics.”  He said when you lose a lot, you learn a lot, and his lesson has shown him where his efforts can be most effective.

So HAPPY 60th BIRTHDAY Mr. Gore!

NICE SAVE!!!

The man that would be president is instead the Midlife Crisis King!
